Shelley made history in 2008 being the first women to compete in the Evolution class of Powerboat P1, the Formula 1 of power boat racing.
A classic example of Girl Power, she really is a woman in a mans world. It is no wonder that Honda included her in their Hondamentalist TV campaign; appearing on the ITV Formula One adverts.

Shelley Jory after the Accident
HAMPSHIRE powerboat champion Shelley Jory-Leigh has miraculously escaped a
dramatic accident – the second in just one month.
Shelley’s boat suddenly dipped into the water at 83 miles per hour causing it to slam
to a halt during a race in Sardinia.
Her horrific injuries include a broken nose and two black eyes, but she still managed
to radio for help as well as lift Patrick, her co-driver, who was slumped unconscious
over the dash.
She said she owes her life to her personal trainer James Seilo, of Catalyst Personal Training: “I should be broken. My body is shaken but it is as solid as a rock and it is because of him. He has probably just saved my life.”
